A ceremony was held on November 6 to mark conclusion of the Second Festival on the iranian Sea Photos attended by the acting commander of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy/ managing director of Ports and Shipping Organization, managing director of IRISL, shipping executives and officials and artists.
First of all Mr. Mohammad Hussein Dajmar, managing director of IRISL, paid tribute to the Baseej Week and the martyrs of the Iranian navy who had sacrificed their lives to defend the country .
He said: respecting art was actually respecting our culture and holding Sea Photos festival was an important undertaking.
"I wish to pay my respects to all photographers in this gathering on behalf of IRISL. Although few cameramen and camerawomen have participated in the festival, they reflect Iranian culture and art and honoring cameramen means respecting all the artists in the country. This means that we know the value of art in the country and are aware that artists can elevate the country's rank," said the head of IRISL.
He added ' mankind has always been in need of art and in the modern age the country needs it more than ever.
"In order to know their conditions every country needs to register its culture and among them artistic pictures are precious documents that portray our country's past and present.
I consider the Festival as an important event and believe that with its vast shoreline, our history of shipping and the growing need for marine transportation, it is necessary for us to hold artistic festivals and propagate shipping culture, said Mr. Dajmar adding that the pictures sent to the festival have shown that shipping industry cannot be properly propagated unless it is introduced the people through artists and photographers.
